The 2013 Gramophone Classical Music Awards, this year presented in association with Steinway & Sons and EFG International, were announced at a ceremony on September 17 at London’s LSO St Luke’s, hosted by Gramophone’s editor-in-chief James Jolly.

The Recording of the Year was revealed as Bartók, Eötvös and Ligeti violin concertos performed by Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Ensemble Modern and the Hessen Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Peter Eötvös on Naïve. We also named our Artist of the Year as Alison Balsom, Lifetime Achievement winner as Julian Bream, Young Artist of the Year as Jan Lisiecki, Label of the Year as Decca Classics and Special Achievement winner as Alain Lanceron.

The evening also featured performances from Benjamin Grosvenor, Jan Lisiecki, Steven Osborne, Ian Bostridge and Xuefei Yang, Barnabás Kelemen and Katalin Kokas, and Alison Balsom.
